Bible Reading Plans for the New Year

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16

Here we are at the end of another year and at the cusp of a new one. This is the time people make “New Year Resolutions”. I stopped making those a long time ago. One goal that never changes for me is the desire to study my Bible more. This means having a plan to read through the Bible in the year.

The past year, 2022, I used the M’Cheyne study plan to read through the Bible in one year. I had tried to use this study plan in the past and for some reason, was unable to get through it. It was really cumbersome to carry the plan with me and track my daily reading. I am not sure why, but it just was. I used other plans to get through by study, but I always wanted to use the M’Cheyene plan because in the course of one year, it will take you through the Old Testament once, the Psalms and the New Testament twice!

Sometime in 2021, I discovered the podcast version of the plan and it completely changed my daily study. Not only could I listen, I could also read along while listening if I wanted to.  A few weeks after that, I found out that Crossway publishers does indeed have a study Bible based on the M’Cheyne reading plan! Oh Joy! The rest as they say is history. I have really loved reading through the Bible using the M’Cheyene plan and I highly recommend it.

However, you don’t have use the M’Cheyene study plan, there are other plans out there.  The MacArthur daily Bible is designed to take you through the Bible in one year. You can get it here MacArthur daily Bible   Here are other reading plans courtesy of Ligonier Ministries.
